Join us for this very special workshop focusing on self-care for the holiday season. While holidays can be a time of joyous celebration, it can also be a difficult time for many. It is quite common for old wounds and patterns to resurface; we can be triggered by family dynamics and/or past painful events. We may set unrealistic expectations for ourselves and our loved ones. Our nervous system can fall out of balance and we become reactive rather than responsive. Our grief can be intensified as we miss those who are no longer with us.
During this workshop we will explore our triggers, identify boundaries, cultivate a practice of self-compassion as reset the nervous system using various techniques. Drawing from Melissa’s training, education and experience as a trauma-sensitive yoga teacher and a licensed clinical social worker and therapist, we will utilize journaling and discussion to identify boundaries we can realistically set as well as practice meditation and pranayama (breath) visualization and mindful self-compassion and gentle yoga to create a restorative practice designed to bring the nervous system back in to balance. Participants will leave this workshop with practical tools and a plan for balance and self- care during the holiday season. All levels welcome. Worksheets and pens are provided but participants are welcome to bring their own journals if they’d like.
